چکیده
Sepsis, caused by uncontrollable infection and inflammatory response, leads to more than 30 million infected patients results in high morbidity worldwide every year. Currently, no efficient approaches have been developed for sepsis therapy due antimicrobial resistance storm. Here, we report macrophages loaded with aggregated carbon dots (ACDs) the lysosome, termed MCDs, treat immunosuppressive mice. The ACDs are constructed negative CDs amine-abundant polyethyleneimine (PEI), enabling them bear strong antibacterial ability enhanced photoluminescent efficacy. specifically located macrophage lysosomes, efficiently enhancing multidrug-resistant bacteria-killing of MCDs. More importantly, MCDs possess superior anti-inflammatory effects such as reducing number pro-inflammatory (M1) stimulating (M2) macrophages. These upregulate cytokines (TNF-?, IL-1?, IL-4, IL-10), ultimately resulting increased survival. Our work provides an intelligent approach overcoming bacteria-induced from paves a new avenue on employing nanoparticle-loaded cells combating inflammation-related infection.

Nitrification at Low pH by Aggregated Chemolithotrophic Bacteria.
A study was performed to gain insight into the mechanism of acid-tolerant, chemolithotrophic nitrification. Microorganisms that nitrified at pH 4 were enriched from two Dutch acid soils. Nitrate production in the enrichment cultures was indicated to be of a chemolithoautotrophic nature as it was (i) completely inhibited by acetylene at a concentration as low as 1 mumol/liter and (ii) strongly r...
متن کاملInflammation, sepsis, and coagulation.
The molecular links between inflammation and coagulation are unquestioned. Inflammation promotes coagulation by leading to intravascular tissue factor expression, eliciting the expression of leukocyte adhesion molecules on the intravascular cell surfaces, and down regulating the fibrinolytic and protein C anticoagulant pathways. Thrombin, in turn, can promote inflammatory responses. This create...

The clinical, human and economic burden associated with sepsis is huge. Initiatives such as the Surviving Sepsis Campaign aim to effectively reduce risk of death from severe sepsis and septic shock. Nonetheless, although substantial benefits raised from the implementation of this campaign have been obtained, much work remains if we are to realise the full potential promised by this strategy. A ...

The World Health Organization estimates that since 1980 the prevalence of obesity has increased more than threefold throughout much of the world, and this increase is not limited to developed nations. Indeed, the incidence of obesity is increasing most rapidly among rapidly industrializing countries raising the spectre of a burgeoning epidemic in obesity-associated diseases, including diabetes,...
